The donation button at right is for INTERNATIONAL donors only. If you live in the U.S. and would like to donate, please send an email to Kathy (gpddmodsquad@aol.com), who is the coordinator for all donations. Specify which fund you wish to donate to, and Kathy will give you instructions on how to send donations.

  • Barnacle Bill transportation fund
  • Alge family support fund

International donations are being handled through CavyMadness/Tammy Raabe Rao's PayPal account. Donation confirmation will list "Nhan Rao" as the recipient; it's OK - he's my husband. :)

Checkout does not require a PayPal account - a non-account link is available on the checkout screen (it's not very visible, sadly). Enter your donation amount and the fund you wish to support (transport or family support) at the PayPal checkout. Thank you for your donation!

note: I will be away from March 12-29, so donations received during that time will be processed March 30.

Thank you for helping us honor Alge's memory
and help out her two pigs, Barnacle Bill and Captain Jack.

View Alge's official memorial tribute page.

Alge has been a very long-time supporter of the Guinea Pigs' Daily Digest and the guinea pig community as a whole. She was very positive and uplifting, and left her mark on a lot of us. Last November (2009), Alge started another round of surgery, radiation and chemo. Members of the GPDD began to send get well cards and well-wishes, and in January 2010 Alge posted to the Digest, and everyone was happy to hear from her.

Unfortunately, Alge contracted pneumonia soon after and only lasted a few days. This has come as a shock to the guinea pig community, who regarded Alge as a close friend. Alge was buried on February 24th, and members of the guinea pig community had a collective candle burning in her memory at 7 PM EST, the time of the service.

Barnacle Bill and Captain Jack are being transported from Logan, Ohio to Ormond Beach, Florida. Members of the GPDD decided started a collection to help transport the 2 boys via a network of volunteers driving, and as you can imagine, it can get a bit tricky connecting people!

update: February 25.
Barnacle Bill's new pig-mom Jenni is having a tough time getting the piggy train connected. Captain Jack is going to another person. Don't worry; they were not cagemates, so they will be OK.
